What is it about Star Wars that intrigues people? For me, it's the constant battle between the good and evil. Not just Sith vs Jedi, but internally within each Jedi, they constantly struggle between good and evil.
Being a Buddhist (I've heard that Lucas derived the Jedi Order from Buddhism in general.. though I suspect the Shaolin Buddhist Fighting Monks to be a true template), I can see pretty much what they're talking about from a Buddhist perspective, and it's pretty accurate to a point. It is a hard struggle that one has to master day in and day out.
But yeah.. what are your thoughts?

Well I know that there is a lot more to Star Wars than the movies and that, in fact there is an entire canon based upon the books. However, Although I think the basic concepts of Star Wars are fairly primal, freedom, good and evil, survival versus failure. But I think to a large extent the popularity of star wars isn't based on any of those things. When it came out it was daring and cutting edge. Especially the effects of the movies. But the franchise has as much power as a nostalgia machine as it does anything else.
